The Board of the ICA has appointed ICA President Ariel Guarco to the post of Director General in the interim, with effect from 1st March 2023. This appointment is to cover the period following the departure of Bruno Roelants, upon the completion of his 5-year term of office, and the appointment of a substantive replacement.

Indonesian Members pass the baton to the Indian Members to continue engagement in the G20 Discussions

Indonesian members passed the baton to the Indian members to continue cooperatives’ engagement in the G20 discussions under the Indian G20 Presidency. The meeting was held online under the auspices of the ICA G20 Cooperative Working Group with some of the members that took part in the previous editions of the G20 sharing their experiences and exchanging knowledge with the Indian members.

Bridging cooperatives and corporations to advance the implementation of the Agenda 2030

The ICA participated at the side event themed “Corporations, Cooperatives and the 2030 Agenda” that was organized by the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA) in collaboration with the Permanent Mission of Mongolia to the United Nation and the Committee for the Promotion and Advancement of Cooperatives (COPAC). The side event was organized at the UN Headquarters in New York during the 61st Session of the Commission for Social Development.

New ILO information guide on measuring statistics of cooperatives

The International Labour Organization (ILO) published at the end of 2022 a new guide titled “Measuring cooperatives, An information guide on the ILO Guidelines concerning Statistics of Cooperatives”.  The new publication provides information about the Guidelines concerning Statistics of Cooperatives adopted at the 20th International Conference of Labour Statisticians (ICLS) in October 2018.

Coops Europe's pledge to the EU Transition Pathways

On February 28, Cooperatives Europe submitted a pledge for the co-implementation of the EU Transition Pathways, more specifically the “Transition Pathway proximity & social economy”. Following its publication on 14 November 2022, the Commission launched a Call for pledges to stakeholders. This initiative is part of the updated EU Industrial policy and the European Social Economy Action Plan.

Key findings of the ICA Survey on Cooperative Identity unveiled

The ICA presented the main findings of the Survey on the Cooperative Identity during a dedicated webinar. More than 200 people worldwide participated in the event that could be followed in English, Spanish, French, and Japanese.
