Six months to go until the 2024 ICA Global Cooperative Conference in India!

It is just half a year before the 2024 ICA Global Conference welcomes cooperators to New Delhi, India, between 25-30 November, to celebrate how Cooperatives Build Prosperity for All and kick off the International Year of Cooperatives!

Don’t forget, the conference website is now live at icanewdelhi2024.coop, where you can take a first look at the programme and find out more about the four key themes of the conference:

Registration will open on 20 June 2024 during the statutory ICA General Assembly, and more information about fees, travel and accommodation will be available very soon. Due to the dates of the event being the high season for business and celebrations in India, we strongly recommend you book your hotel rooms ASAP. The list of preferred hotels will be made available in the first week of June.

What is new ICA Director-General Jeroen Douglas expecting from #ICANewDelhi2024?

The 2024 ICA Global Conference in New Delhi will be Jeroen Douglas’s first as ICA Director-General. What are his expectations of the event?

“It is the single biggest multi-continental cooperative event bringing together cooperatives and mutuals, federations and national apex bodies, so I am very much looking forward to meeting with the movement, and proud to operate as an organiser together with our formidable host IFFCO, the Indian Farmers’ Fertilizer Cooperative, which serves 50 million smallholder farmers in India.

India is hosting the ICA GC for the first time! How did modern-day cooperation begin in the land of ancient civilisation, spirituality, and diverse cultures?

The 2024 Global Conference (25-30 November) will be held in New Delhi, India, at the Bharat Mandapam, which hosted the G20 New Delhi summit in 2023.

India is home to nearly a quarter of the world’s cooperative enterprises; The statistical survey conducted by the National Coop Union of India in 2018 revealed that India has around 800,000 cooperatives, with a combined membership of more than 290 million people, and 19 multi-state apex-level societies which represent their respective sectors at national level. In 2021, the Union Government set up a ministry dedicated to the development of cooperatives. Today the country also has a robust network of cooperative educational institutions
